Jail guard arrested: allowed repeated attacks on inmate

Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility (PCRDF) Deputy Robert Phillips was arrested today by Sheriff’s Office Investigators on two warrants for misdemeanor Abuse of Office.  The warrants stem from an investigation into allegations Phillips allowed an inmate to be attacked on two different occasions by other inmates.  The investigation concluded that Phillips did not follow proper protocols in stopping and reporting the attacks.  Phillips was arrested this afternoon and booked into the PCRDF.  Phillips posted bond and was released from the PCRDF later this afternoon.

Phillips was placed on administrative leave with pay pending a disciplinary hearing.  The general reports for the incident are not complete at this time.  Investigators are in the process of obtaining warrants for the inmates that committed the attacks.

Deputy Phillips has been employed at the PCRDF since December 2, 2013.
